I have heard that unlocking your cpu cores will increase fps and game performance. I was wondering if that was true because don't most games not use alot of your cpu cores? I would also like to know the benefits and drawbacks from unlocking cores.

ps I mean unparking cores -_-

Most games do not scale very well with CPU performance. in my own testing of taking an i7-6700k and modifying it to perform like an 13-6100 and pentium G4400, there was minimal fps difference in the games I played (as low as 10 fps). That being said if you play a highly CPU intensive game, a stronger CPU can make ALL the difference in the world.

It is pretty pointless unless you know that the cpus cores are not being utilized, or whether or not the game is programmed to use the threads.
