Help in Server build

Hey everyone,

I really don't have much idea about server parts. I need to configure a server for my school.

I'm stating the requirements down below:

1. It must run 50 rdp clients.

2. It must be able to run 3 VMs (2 windows , 1 linux). N.B.: One of the Windows VM will be used to do graphical works.

3. Must run Nvidia Quadro K4000.

4. Must have GbE.

5. Must have atleast support for 8-10 SATA ports.

6. Must have an affordable price.

It would be much helpful if you can send a pc parts picker list. or suggest a brand server pc.

Thank you.

Sakib

You would be better just speaking to a vendor, in all honesty. For something like this, and whilst its not a massive server you need, you would want mission critical support etc.

Just cut the crap and go straight to vendor with your "affordable price" which could mean any figure.

System/Server Administrator - Networking - Storage - Virtualization - Scripting - Applications

Dude, I went to them. But I don't know if they will be adequate for the workload. That's why I came here for suggestion.

HP and Dell Server PCs!!. is that okay?

Bro, I'm pretty illiterate in case of Server parts. but my teacher doesn't seem to get this that Desktops are different than servers.

So you went direct to Dell and HP and you have doubts over if they have enough power? What servers did they try to sell you?

Well. I live in Bangladesh. Here Dell and HP have distributors. they don't have specific showrooms. They tried to sell 3000 USD Servers. But I have 1500-2000 USD budget. and that server was a bare bone server.
