Hello,

So now the steam sale is on I am considering picking up Just Cause 3. I know it has issues on a lot of PCs.

My specs are:

I7-5820k @stock

EVGA GTX 980 ti ACX 2.0 SC

32 GB of DDR4 Ram

Windows 7 Professional

If anyone has experience with it, I would love to hear about it.

I bought Just Cause 3 and it runs terribly. It has this online option that tries to connect every few minutes unless you block it with the Windows firewall and then it still tries to connect when you start the game. It stuttered like crazy which I tracked down to a vram problem. I should not be getting vram problems; I have 4gb of vram and 8gb of ddr3. I mostly got around this issue by going to low textures but it still stutters occasionally (I heard having more normal ram helps so it might be non-existent on a rig with 32gb). It has some of the worst aliasing I've seen of any game even with aliasing turned up all the way. And now it's crashing every time I try to start the game. I think I need to reinstall it.

It also doesn't look a hole lot better than Just Cause 2. Except for the water; the water is beautiful. I'd recommend not buying Just Cause 3 until it reaches bargain basement prices. Get Just Cause 2 instead; it's 90% as good for 10% the price. And it runs phenomenally even on my old computer that has a terrible graphics card. It just makes no sense. I blame Denuvo. They ruined Just Cause 3; I know it.

Edit: Blaming Denuvo was obviously a joke but I have encountered stuttering similar to Just Cause 3 in all other Denuvo games I've played (only Mad Max and Arkham Knight) although not as bad. I originally thought Denuvo was the root of the stuttering but after discovering the vram issue I'm not so sure anymore.

Or..ya know the dev who made it who had no hand in the other JC games.

Not to mention Mad Max which WAS made by the JC1/2 dev is also on denuvo and runs amazingly...as soon doom, as does MGS5 as does  BF hardline as does starwars battlefront as does Rise of the Tomb Raider.

OK. I think I'm going to hold off and probably buy Fallout 4 instead.

My big problem is that my screen has a resolution of 3440 x 1440( ultra wide). That's my main concern.

I don't know about other AMD cards, but the 390X can run the game at max settings @ 60Fps

Just out of curiosity, what resolution are you running it at?

That was sarcasm Dude. I thought your Question was too. With a Maschine like yours, your Topic Question cant be meant serious.

I figured out how to get around the crashing. Apparently you have to underclock your graphics card. Yes, underclock. Underclocked my R9 380 by 9 MHz and now it never crashes. Also apparently one of my mods was also causing crashes. It's weird sometimes it works with that mod sometimes it doesn't. Also the aliasing is significantly more apparent on 720p. It's still there in 1080p but only rarely noticeable.

With these revelations I retract my original statement about buying it only when it reaches a bargain basement price.
