Windows Reset

Hello community,

My friend and I are at a loss. His computer despite all efforts to update drivers and unplugging graphics cards, no games can run stable, they all get the "Sorry your pc isnt working right" screen then restarts.

So anyways we are trying to reset his computer to factory settings, and it says "Resetting this PC 2%" only problem is it has been at 2% for 3 hours now. We are not sure what to do. The littile animation that goes in circle is still going around, so Im assuming its not frozen.

Any help?????????????

Is this by any chance windows 8 and the screen where the background is black and there is a white or blue circle in the middle with the percentage in the middle.
also side note, if something is broken via software and he has a windows key I recommend just reformatting

Is this windows 10? If yes, then use Windows Media creation tool to create a bootable usb media to reinstall windows 10, if you haven't upgrade to windows 10 you can also do it at this time as long as your current os is windows 7,8,8.1.

* windows 8/8.1 should able to recognize your product key from the bios if pre-installed, if no then enter your product key.
