Whats the best

Go to solution Solved by Cela1,

If you want a GPU on a budget couldn't you get a build similar to this:

And then save up a bit for a new Polaris graphics card.

You should be careful when you're dealing with this price range - You get what you pay for. Also, if you don't need a dedicated GPU, you can actually get away with getting a Skylake i5 on this. Just add a GPU later.

Memory: G.Skill NT Series 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-2133 Memory  ($29.98 @ Newegg)
Case: Corsair Air 240 MicroATX Mid Tower Case  ($82.67 @ Amazon)

This is assuming you will be using that hard drive. I would recommend a solid-state drive even at this price range, but if we're trying to be as cheap as possible, then a hard drive is good enough. Also, if you don't want to deal with SuperBiiz, you can get the Intel Core i5-6400 for $189.99 at other vendors.

Also, if you don't need four cores, you can get the i3-6100, which has a higher CPU frequency and is a bit cheaper than the i5-6400, but has two less cores. That means if you need more than two threads, the i3 can actually be slower. Otherwise, it's faster.

Also, it's hard to find a build that has an external GPU while staying under $400. You could go with an Intel Core i3-6100 and GTX 950 build, which is quite popular, but you'll add around $50 to the price of the computer. If that's concerning, you could also use a Pentium G4400 instead of an i3-6100, or go with a cheaper case. I would not recommend using less than 8 GB of RAM, or a lower-powered PSU, because using 4 GB of RAM will definitely bottleneck your CPU most of the time, and the CX-series PSUs are decent and cheap, so it's hard to find a better deal that doesn't give you a cruddy power supply.

Lastly, this price does not include Windows. You'll have to do some searching around if you want to buy an OEM key for cheap. I only buy the $119 retail keys, so I wouldn't know where you'd find them.

Although if using iGPU remember to use dual channel RAM (just remembered this now... oops)

Yeah, you could do that. However, I picked one RAM module over two because the H110 chipset only has two RAM slots (one slot per channel). The OP wanted upgradeability, so putting two 4GB modules would require replacing the entire RAM kit if the OP wanted to upgrade, and add around $5 to the price, possibly.

Dual channel can, from what I've seen around the Internet, yield FPS boosts from 5% - 20%, which is definitely something worth noting, since you can't overclock the RAM.

Yes, definitely. NVIDIA even recommends 500W. Make sure you get a decent PSU from a respectable brand, though. Never skimp on the PSU under any circumstance.

amd is good :D

If you're going to get an AMD CPU, I'd wait until Zen. Right now, even Intel's i3-6100 at stock speeds totally annihilates the same-priced FX-6300 even when overclocked, despite having less cores, plus you'll pay extra for cooling, and you will be limited to DDR3.

I'd personally get the i5 now, using the iGPU until you get the 1070 (hopefully when it's finally in stock). You will regret using a budget CPU with a ~$400 GPU.
