Linux won't install on my Windows tablet.

Secure boot's disabled, the USB works on my desktop.

It just flashes the screen and boots up Windows.

Is there any way for you to enter the bios/enter the boot menu? Maybe you can choose to boot from the USB from there.

Also, what kind of tablet is it? If it is one of the Chinese Dual booting Android and WIndows tablets it will be quite difficult afaik, as they require a custom bios.

[cnyrmb@TheBeast-Arch ~]$ java -jar print_footer.jar

Main Rig:

i7-4790K - Asrock Z97 Extreme 6 - EVGA 1070 FTW - 16GB HyperX Fury @ 1866 - 120GB 840 EVO -  1TB WD Blue - XFX XTR 750W (80+ Gold) - Arch Linux/Win10

I can get into the bios but it just flashes the screen when I boot from USB.

It's some off brand tablet. Digital2

Try to shut down completely instead of restarting, as newer versions of windows tend to flash by the bios screen.

As well, spam the f9 or f2 key while booting up, which will correspond with the boot devices menu for most motherboards.

Interesting.

In that case, you could try again using a reformatted usb installed using rufus or something.

if that doesn't work, I'm afraid help will be scarce.

You could always use vmware or some other virtual machine

It has a gig of ram so I don't think VMs are an option :P

What version of linux are you using?

I mean some versions can run on <8 megs

I'm running a couple for botting purposes, so that's where i got the idea from

Is the USB formatted in MBR or GPT? Is it Legacy boot or UEFI bootable? Most USBs are legacy boot (unless Windows is installed to a usb using the media creation tool) so make sure that legacy boot/oprom support is enabled in your BIOS.

If you're installing Ubuntu why not install it from the Windows environment? The last time I checked they had an exe installer...

Is it a 32bit or 64bit tablet? I have a Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet 2 here that is one of the 32bit Atom chips and is slow as BALLS with windows.
Turns out that while the tablet was only 32bit, UEFI is typically only supported on 64bit, and as such the linux distros I was trying to use which would only do 64bit UEFI would never work.

I still haven't found a way around that issue and as such, the tablet is still sitting here doing nothing.
