NAS in PC

Go to solution Solved by brwainer,

If you just want file syncing between computers (one of which can be a server or NAS) then I suggest you look at BitTorrent Sync - although I think they just changed the name a week or two ago. It uses bittorrent as the base protocol for transfers, but beyond that it's like Dropbox without your files going "to the cloud".

EDIT: Just for reference, I have  7 folders syncing between 6 computers:

Folders A and B sync on computers 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5

Folders C, D, and E sync on computers 4 and 5

Folders F and G sync on computers 4 and 6

Between my folders I have over 1,000,000 files and 1TB syncing. Aside from indexing when a computer boots up, there are no issues.

Hi!

My brother's running a company and they are hosting important files with each other via Dropbox Sync, but one day it seemed to be a bit faulty, because some of the files were not synced correctly, they couldn't reach them from the primary PC...

So since I have a server PC that runs 0-24, I want to make the same thing, but I don't know yet how. That is: I want to host a folder just like DropBox Sync, or G-Drive, etc. which is available from anywhere, or at least, it can be synced with another PC. We put something inside one, it will be there on the other.

Like if I make a NAS in the middle of the room, connect it to the LAN, and make it somehow available for another PC from the other side of Earth. But all this doing on my server.

What are your suggestions?

Your problem is going to be sharing the files but how to manage active changes in the event you have multiple users accessing/modifying the same file.

An instance of SharePoint would help but it's also overkill+expensive.

Look at:

Google Cloud Connect

Samepage

Alfresco

Nuxeo

Looking to buy GTX690, other multi-GPU cards, or single-slot graphics cards:
