Computer not booting

Hello.

 

Got a problem with a system I built for someone about 7 months ago. When you press the power button nothing happens - doesn't boot at all. I've stripped everything out. PSU works fine (jumped it). Have tried just mobo, psu, cpu, cooler, 1 stick of ram out of the case and nothing.

 

What is the next plan of action? I've got no other mobo or cpus of this socket to try?

8gb ram

 

How can I tell is it cpu/mobo/ram? What shall I do now?

Okay - give me a sec to look up the manual assoiciated with that mobo - Are you sure you don't even get a post beep?

Not even a beep. When i press power switch/short out power pins nothing happens at all. No fans or anything

sounds like a broken PSU. Check the voltages on the 24 and 8 pin.

 

(Is the PSU on?)

PSU turns on fine if i jump it by itself though?

Make sure the ATX Power cable is in securely if it's not already. 

 

If it doesn't - the Mobo or cable might be bad.

The PC wont turn on, if the connectors are dead, but the PSU will.

Ah i see what you mean. Hmmm so check with multimeter?

Like I said - it could be the Cables themselves.

if you have one.

If not use a fan.

No not any others bar my own which im not taking out after hours of cable management

I'll see if i know anyone one with a spare

plugging in with a molex should start up the fan

Something like this.

Connect one end to the pin to check, the other one to a ground pin.

Watch out for orientation. you will notice a difference between 12 and 5V.

Got hold of a multimeter. 24pinnand 8 pin and reading fine...

 

What now ?
