pc startup issue

I have been having issues with my new pc lately when it comes to turning on. After hours of tinkering i figured out that the pc only starts if the monitor is disconnected prior to hitting the switch. this issue even happens from sleep. I am hoping theirs an easy fix for this as nothing i have tried has worked. Thanks for your time!

Are you running off of Integrated GPU or a PCIe GPU?

PCIe GPU. I actually tried the displayport port on the mobo and it started just fine that way. I have an asus VG24 and it has standby connection detection so i wonder if that may be an issue here. My GPU is a r9 390

Probably a faulty displayport cable. I had this issue before where my computer refused to start unless I unplugged the displayport cable. 

 

Turns out the thing was completely dead, but in your case it's just perhaps faulty.

 

Try using a new or different one to see if it helps.
