New rig keeps freezing

wllmbxtr

Hello LTT,

I have had a problem with a gaming rig I built

every time I try to play a game or even whats a YouTube video or even just browsing the web my computer freezes and doesnt let me do anything until I turn it off and restart it. Can it be a gpu issue.

My specs are:

Amd fx 9590

asus crosshair formula Z

Asus Strix amd 390

generic 30gb of ram

thermalake powersupply 700w

It could be a RAM issue try switching around sticks and see if it still happens.

My Work in Progress PC http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/522048-xeon-build/ <-- That PC was built but never booted:(

My Work in Progress PC 2.0 https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/540583-xeon-build-20-code-name-xenox (Hopefully this one boots.)

Probably the Power Supply being shit.

Or the CPU being unstable at its speed.

But I'm willing to bet it's the PSU being shit.

Replace it with a good 600 Watter like this one.

http://pcpartpicker.com/product/nB3RsY/seasonic-power-supply-s12ii620bronze

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

all that stuff is power hungry and you're running a "450watt" power supply.......... yes, I know what you wrote.

edit: also, what are you cooling the cpu with?

i don't think this power supply is good enough. I would get 60-80amps and a good name brand.

some of your components overall draw too much ( liek a cpu or gpu under load)

Not just a good name brand, cite a model.

Or we get users stuck with XFX XTs and old CXs.
