I have an old computer that I want to install Kodi on. I am going to put a linux distro on it since it still runs vista. What is the best linux distro for an old computer to put kodi on?

-EDIT-

Or should I just use kodibuntu?

Got an Android, never going back to apple again (notice I spelled apple with a lowercase and Android with an uppercase)

If you want to use it as a desktop then something like Ubuntu MATE or Linux Mint (either the MATE or Cinnamon version) will do you fine. Get a great user interface but will still be much lighter on your system than Windows is.

if you want to have a window manager running, i'd suggest something like Lubuntu or Xubuntu, otherwise just go for Kodibuntu and call it a day.

It really doesn't matter. If all you'll be running is kodi any distribution will do. Kodibuntu is ready out of the box so you could go for that.

All I want to do is run the web browser outside of kodi so I can watch content found in the browser and nowhere else.

lubuntu.

because having less OS overhead than windows XP on a modern system warrants looking like it's 1876.

Then I suggest a light distribution like debian with lxde. kodibuntu won't allow you to use anything other than kodi (out of the box) afaik.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*

I am setting this up for my grandma and grandpa so I want it to be really straightforward for them to get from kodi straight to the browser.

That involves logging out, selecting a different session and logging in again. If that's fine with you, go for it - but if not, you'll want to run kodi inside a different session. That way all it takes is to exit from kodi (without logging out) and launching the browser from a desktop icon or from a taskbar menu, then launching kodi again when you're done. You won't get a "switch to browser" button without medium level autostart configuration and hotkey fiddling.
