First NAS Build

Im planning on building a nas in the coming months.

What os would u take to use plex + ftp?

 

What parts should i take? I want a low powered cheapo nas with max. 4 hdd's (2tb each)

What kind of horsepower does it take to copy files at gigabit speed at have plex running with max. Full HD Videos? (not at the same time)

 

I hope you guys can help me out. Thanks!
