Xonar DG shenanigans

After watching a movie with a friend I went back to my pc, plugged my headphones and for some reason I have no sound. Trying to figure out why I plug out the jacks and then my pc suddenly restarts. After my PC had started windows doesn't recognize the sound card, neither does the xonar driver installer. After re-seating the sound card, still doesn't get recognized. So I might have a broken sound card. One thing I can still do is tuck the card in my little brothers pc and see if it's broken. I hope it's not, because I'll otherwise have to send it back, luckily it still has warranty. But I also have no clue if I have any proof of purchase.

Get it replaced if you can or buy an external solution.

Yeah, I have been looking at external solutions and I have taken some interest in them, the only problem is that I don't know if I have the receipt somewhere, I'll have to see if the email is somewhere, it should be, hopefully :/

You don't want to know, you'll burst in tears or laughter. But if you're that brave I have roccat kaves. I got them so I can't complain but still. Maybe I could sell them if someone wanted to buy

Also I found the email, thank god

So I did a final check on the soundcard before I was going to send it. So I plug it in my brothers pc again and surprise surprise Windows recognizes it, and the drivers actually install. Then I proceed to put it on my pc and after a few hiccups it starts working normally, maybe the soundcard was having a bad day yesterday. Shenanigans indeed.

Luckily I did the check, otherwise I would've had to pay for shipping and false RMA request :/

Hmmm, I had the same occur with my STX.  It's a driver bug, I'm sure of it.  The Uni drivers are better, but they still have this problem sometimes.

"Pardon my French but this is just about the most ignorant blanket statement I've ever read. And though this is the internet, I'm not even exaggerating."

  • 9 months later...

A completely random resurrection, but it kinda fits, and I don't like creating topics.

I have singled out the problem.

A combination of my case and the soundcard causes it to actually slide off of the PCI slot causing it not to work.

This has happened a couple of times now. Really getting on my nerves.
