so im thinking of water cooling my my pc. i will be moving within a year so i didnt want to do a custom loop until i settle in at my new place.

i was wondering if i should get the ek predator. and get the gpu connection. i can always re use the block for the gpu for the custom loop?

sound reasonable or just i just get a cpu cooler and wait?

That's what I thought of doing, and I did get the EK Predator but sold it last week and am now going full custom loop.

It honestly wasn't worth it over the likes of a Corsair H115i as it is double the cost with barely better performance. Get a good AIO from the likes of Corsair or NZXT, and then just save for your custom loop. I'd only recommend the predator if you are planning on keeping it and want a good quality long lasting product.

Pic for reference ( I had the 240)

I am very pleased with my Predator 360. Cooling a 5820k @ 4.5GHz and a GTX 980Ti @ 1.4GHz. Cooling is great, pump is set to an inaudible operation point and the fans are spinning low as well. Not inaudible under load, but very quiet.

I really like the idea to be able to replace the GPU with a new one (+ prefilled EK water block) and just connect it to the loop in seconds.

The only downside is, that your are bound to EKs blocks. This is currently a big bummer (imho), because I would like to stick to EVGA cards and EK will not make blocks for EVGAs 1080 cards with a custom PCB.
