I get this error when i boot:

End kernel panic - not syncing: requested init /usr/lib/raspi-config/init_resize.sh failed (error -8)

I have tried formatting multiple times and it doesnt work..

I am not using NOOBS as that failed...

Cant find anything about it online. Any ideas?

Thanks

- download the raspbian image

- it should be a zip, inside that zip should be an .img file

- extract that .img file to a place where you'll find it

- if you are doing the do on linux, use DD

- if you are doing the do on windows, use win32 disk imager

- select the SD card as output, select the .img file as input, and let it run.

- once its done slot the SD card in your pi

- ???

- profit.

are you sure your SD card isnt a brick? that'd be my next bet.

btw, dont use NOOBS edition, everyone i've heard who tried it told me its harder than just installing your OS of chocie.

format the SD card to something windows can read, put a large file on it, unplug it, plug it back in, and read the file off.

SD cards (especially cheap ones) are VERY suceptible to becoming derpy and bricking your data.

something else: when you plug in your pi, does the red LED light up? if it doesnt that means its not getting the 5 volts it wants, which from my experience has a really bad influence on some SD cards :P

raspbian requires at least a 4GB SD card, and if its an ebay one.. i wouldnt be surprised if its just a chunk of garbage.

i usually recommend 8GB SD cards because they're still on the cheap side and are pretty much ideal on the price per GB range.

also, buy from a reputable store, and a reputable brand. kingston and sandisk seeming to be your best bets.
