Every time I have an issue with connecting my Xbox one controller to pc and search it I always come across some idiot mentioning.. Console controllers have aim assist.. Use a mouse or die.. It is stupid to read..

1. Aim assist is built into console games such as Call of duty Black ops 3.

2. You can disable this setting in the menu on the game on Xbox one.

3. When you have aim assist active and you are aiming down sights.. An enemy runs past your sight the gun will attempt to follow.. That is aim assist.

4. I hope Linus media group can somewhat test this to prove me wrong but get the same game on pc.. Use the Xbox controller and test aim assist.. I guarantee it does not move.

5. It is very annoying when pc users that are able to maneuver using keys and mouse.. Tell users of console equipment that controllers have aim assist built in and it is foolish to use. Especially when a user is asking for help connecting and using controllers on pc.

Granted that controllers are harder and slower to use but surely pc gamers want a bigger variety of people to play on pc and not turn them away back to console.

I have my pc setup on a 50 inch tv in the living room and enjoy gaming on the sofa using wireless Xbox one remote.. Playing games that have support for controllers such as shift 2, Bo3 and 2 and wanted to give csgo a shot as it has controller support but not xb1 controller.. Ah well can anyone tell me if tom Clancy the division works with xb1 controller?

Actually you are wrong in point 3. Thats not really how aim assist is suppose to work. Using controller sticks is rather inaccurate compared to using mouse. So when you move stick/sight towards enemy, it focuses to enemy unit. But you will need to keep sight at close range, like right next to target to make it work. Otherwise we would be talking hacking.

Also there are PC games (mostly console ports) which do have aim assist as option when you have controller selected/connected.

There would be no point testing this. Its game depending even in console and works bit different between games. If someone keeps saying such stupid things, you can be adult and ignore them. For example, I ignore anyone who says they are PCMR. Obviously I don't need to hear their crap after that statement.

I have a feeling the OP is talking about Battlefield or CoD or something like that...they do NOT have aim assist.

Aim assist in console ports is usually just single player third person games.

Maybe not SUPPOSED to but in BF4,that is exactly what happens.

Your shooting it out with a guy and a random enemy runs by and drags your sights off target.

Mostly effects AA abusers...

This is a fact.

If you look down on my post, you see that I said aim assist is really much game depending.

You said he's "wrong" and/or hacking.

No qualifier takes that back.

No such thing as "you're wrong but it depends"...that's unsmart. lol

If we start nitpicking. OP is also wrong with saying that all games have aim assist which works like BF4s. So we both can be right. I'm man enough to admit when I'm wrong. You clearly have some more to gain here.

Where do you see specification that there's only BF4 which acts like that and all other games are different? To me its all assumption that since single game works like that, all others do as well. Which I indicated was not the case. I have played console CoD and it doesn't have that kind of aim assist. Now I can say I'm sorry if I'm too harsh here.

No apology needed.

Thank you for making my points for me.

  • 3 weeks later...

I was indeed talking directly about Call of Duty Black ops 2 + 3. No information was given about BF4 at all by me. In Console Black ops 2 + 3 (Xbox one) In game settings Aim Assist is usually disabled for clan training accuracy. !00% guarantee you this option is there which in turn tell you (the user) that Aim assist is in fact programming based and can be disabled. At the top of this list it shows Target assist.. this is aim assist.. Unless somebody is using a modified controller with an arbiter chip of some sort which likely will not work on PC then aim assist is not present in a stock Xbox controller. The thumb sticks are not a form of aim assist as it is much more difficult to use two forms of direction as it is using one handed movement. Xpadder uses a concept of decoying a mouses axis movement and assigning that movement to the thumb stick I.e tricking the game in thinking the mouse is being used when it is not.
