raid 60 over two lsi controllers

Unfortunately no you can't generally do that, disks on a RAID controller are isolated to that. You can create a RAID 6 on each card but you will need to stripe them in the OS. Personally I would not use a RAID 60 so if you can use two individual volumes I would go with that, you can share them out under a single name space so it looks like one volume.
