Mac / USB issues.

Hi, I have a USB 3.0 sandisk ultra 32 gb and a mac air 13 inch early 2015. I tried to delete some stuff from the USB but the amount of storage space left won't change. I decided to delete a movie there (2 gb) because I only had 10 mb of space left. After removing it from the USB, I tried putting a game in (1 gb) but It told me I didn't have enough space. I know I can format the disk but I don't want to go through the complicated process and I also tried everything I know (Direct trash, eject, move then trash, etc) but it still won't work. Please help!
