If I were you, I'd just get 1 stick of 8gb RAM for now. This is so that, if for some reason later on, you can add another 8gb if need be. Since the motherboard only has two dimm slots, I think this is the way to go. :)

I am currently under the impression that the boardpartners are going to reveal their own designs at computex.

Ah ok thank you very much. I've just seen that the founders edition is available to pre-order for £619 here, so I guess the standard edition would be around £549 which is practically the same as the MSI GTX980ti

I believe that the pre-order cards have a price premium on them. As far as I am aware, they cost more then when you start ordering them after they have been released and will be selling for the prices Nvidia dropped. (Welcome to marketing -.-')

But then again, you could get a used 980ti for much cheaper now. I've seen them go for around 350-400 USD on eBay. that would be roughly  £270-300

Do not get the founders edition.

It looks fine. You can drop the clockspeed on the ram as your processor only supports DDR4-1866/2133, DDR3L-1333/1600.  But as everyone has been saying, wait until the GTX 1070/1080 are released and look for either a 1070/1080 or a cheaper 980ti ;)

The cpu might only support that speed according to Intel, but you can use much faster DDR4 ram if you want on that MSI board.

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/BbyKHN You forgot a PSU, I switched out the GPU for a 1080. I'm not sure if 400 pounds will be the price in Britain I just used a currency converter.

Well spotted, I didn't actually forget I just couldn't find the link + forgot to post it here.

I actually have the 750W version of that PSU on my amazon wishlist, but perhaps that might be a bit overkill.

Not a chance that the GTX 1080 will be £400. I think £600+ is more realistic.

PSU is overpriced as well. You can get the EVGA G2 550W for £70.

It'll just downclock the ram. By this you'll just spend extra money on something that doesn't add anything. It is basically the same as saying that a 1600W psu can power a 600W system. You don't gain that much (if anything) from doing so.

Yeah, I just used a currency converter. And yeah you could go with a cheaper PSU, the G2 is a very good choice.

No it won't downclock the ram. The xmp profile will run it at the correct speed.
