I quite like how the 970 gaming looks :)

Although for aesthetics' sake I'd turn the EVO 90 degrees so that we can get a look at those sexy Black and Red VRM heatsinks.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

It was optimal at the time for the case that it was in. I was thinking about doing just that though. Thanks!

Replace it with an 8350. IT's much faster.

You mean the 8320 clocked higher?

The CXs can only operate at up to 30 degrees ambient. So if the heat gets cranked up (like in a closed case) or if airflow is restricted it will shut itself off under load.

I've seen more than one topic here in LTT where someone would be gaming and their computer shut down out of the blue, no BSOD no nothing. And in many cases the culprit was a CX series power supply.

Get exactly this power supply.

http://www.microcenter.com/product/460288/CX650M_650_Watt_ATX_Modular_Power_Supply

Now these are also called CX, but they're based on a new platform that can work at up to 40 degrees ambient temperature (that's 104F, quite the hot environment) and perform very well in general.

You can tell they're the new CX because they have a grey sticker.

You can get this one alternatively.

Yeah no, your build doesn't need that. Just get a quality 500 watt PSU.

You can do better than that easily. Like this:

wait. i thought 750 was not going to be enough.

Actually your system will pull about 420-450 under load :)

It's just that the CX750 will get too hot and throw a temper(ature) tantrum. :P
