hello today in the office i work the external hdd gave me a problem of "cyclic redundancy check error" and i need to recover the files that are inside of this HDD, anyone know how to recover any information of it, i'm talking about 350GB of pure documents that i need to keep working in this company, thanks for the help.

 

i tried the chkdsk in cmd and doesn't work at all it tells me this: 

"chkdsk can not be run on the drive
The type of the file system is RAW.
CHKDSK is not available for RAW drivers."

 

but when i replug it i can run the chkdsk if i do a second i plug the HDD

i need help please :(

Have you tried any other computers or OSs? There are some recovery options but sometimes its just a issue between the drive and the particular computer. If you haven't, try it on another computer first to back up the data.

You should also check the drive and partitions using the disk management or a third party or even just check the volume, its possible windows picked up some small raw/unallocated partition before the larger/primary partition. If that is the case and theres just some 64mb partition then theres probably nothing to fret.

If those both fail then you should move to recovery, the go to is recuva as its free but there are some other options, but if its vital and it is for a professional use I would recommend using a company or someone with experience to be safe.

i tried another 3 computers this far i got almost 10% of the data back, plug in and unplug in the E-HDD to different pc's and i download a linux distro called "pmagic" that i'll try to get the HDD fully working to get those files, thanks for answering i'll be posting any update if i resolve this alone or with any help.
