Is there some sort of device I can buy that logs temperature over hours and make a graph (or send the information to a PC?) for me to analyze? Doesn't have to be very accurate, I just need to know if there is a change over time.

Looking for something like this because sleep time temperature has not been kind to me lately. What I'm guessing is that it's warm when I head to bed and shifts to cold a few hours later when I'm already asleep. Reason being when I sleep with a thin blanket, I wake up with a headache. When I sleep with a thick blanket, I wake up a bit mid night drenched in sweat (although at morning when I wake up, it's damn comfy).

My solution is to log the temperature, find out when the temperature drastically changes, and set an alarm to wake me up to switch blankets during the night.

Any suggestions on how I would log the temperature? Preferably cheap? Thank you!

How good are you with circuits and programming?

I think your best bet is with an arduino, a thermocouple and some analog to digital circuit you create yourself.

I migjt be able to help if u post here.

Zero experience at all lol. I did a few weeks of java, that's about it.

I was actually considering starting a long term project, where the goal is to get a arduino/rasberry pi connected to an outlet switch thing and a temperature monitor. Then plug a heater through that outlet. So basically you get a heater that turns on automatically when ambient temperature drops below a threshold and turns off when it goes over a threshold. Like a temperature conditioner.

I have no idea how difficult it is to do this, I don't mind learning and playing around with circuitry and programming for a few months if that'll be what it takes.

Although for the problem at hand, is there no easy way to log the temperature? Maybe even a very not accurate app for android?
