Hello there. Anyone reading this I thank you ahead of any advice you may give. And I'd like to add I am good with computers, but I'm definitely still learning so this is a pretty helpful situation regardless.

First I'll explain my scenario. My father (while I was gone away for a few days) bumped his PC pretty hard. Its a pretty bad PC, its an "Hp Pavilion a6000." But we can't afford to replace it.

The issue is the motherboard (I'm pretty sure this is the issue tried with several monitors and cords) only display port (VGA) is damaged. Now I would just replace the motherboard but the motherboards from these PC's are like USD$150 and due to our current financial situation, we cannot pay that much.

Now I am thinking, maybe if we put in some cheap old GPU we could use that for graphics so we don't need to use the broken port. So I will need to know "Which one should I get for like $40?(more or less, the most intensive thing he runs is his fantasy baseball league)" If that would even work.

That or I need a suggestion of what other motherboard would work for his current parts that isn't quite as expensive? I have a link for the mobo that it uses for your reference. Thank you so much for any help!

Search for something like a Gt 710. Should be right up your price point.

Okay thanks, that will help a lot, lets hope it really is that VGA port.

pretty much all graphics cards have a DVI output that can be converted to vga with a little adaptor anyway, if you buy a card new it will almost certainly come with one

If your looking for something right around $40 here is a low profile Saphire Radeon 6450. It's Just around $35. I have one in my system driving a second monitor and it works really good. It also has no fans so your pc will be no noisier. Here it is ---> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102933&cm_re=sapphire_radeon-_-14-102-933-_-Product
