Resolution

Ok so I have a 21 inch acer monitor and the resolution on it is 1600x900 and I'm currently using a DVI cable. Would using a DVI to HDMI cable allow me to reach a 1080 resolution?

Does the monitor support 1080?

No. Even single link DVI supports 1080p. If the monitor's resolution is 1600x900, then you cant go any higher than that.
