Here is my build:

Asus Rog VIII Hero Alpha

Corsair Vengeance 8 GB X 4

Intel 6700k

EVGA GTX 970

EVGA 850 P2

This has been quite the saga. I tried this exact setup with an ASUS z170 A mobo, couldn't get it to post. Kept getting a BOOT_DEVICE_LED light that wouldn't go away. Tried RAM in all different configurations, took out everything but RAM, CPU, and cooler. Nada. Abused amazon's return policy to get a new z170 A. Same deal. Returned that one too, and the CPU and RAM because I could and I'm deeply frustrated, upgraded to the Rog VII Hero Alpha.

So I've put together the new board, new cpu, new ram, and I'm getting the BOOT_DEVICE_LED again.

I've disconnected all memory and drives, taken out the GPU, gone down to 1 stick of ram, still nothing. I'm getting various Q-codes. With the GPU in, I'm getting "99" code. With the gpu out, I'm getting the "d6" code. Boot device led is on either way, but without the GPU the GPU led stays on as well.

Quite often, on powering on it will start and then restart itself.

I have checked parts compatibility, everything seems fine. I have flashed BIOS to the latest version. I have reset cmos numerous times. I have checked, rechecked, and reseated cables. I have tried booting with the monitor connected to the GPU, and with the GPU removed and the monitor connected to the mobo. I have tested the monitor with another computer. Could it be my PSU? Everything seems to power up just fine, I have I'm really at the end of my rope here and worried that I just dropped 2600 dollars on nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

(seems simple and dumb i know but let me know if you tried al lthose things he mentions)

for code B6 seems to also have somethign to do with the clearing the cmos, try all your booting with just 1 stick until something else happens?
