Ok, so i bought a kingston hyper x savage ssd 480GB and it arrived today. they come with acronis cloning software so i went through one of linus's cloning videos and followed it through. the only thing is that it asks me to restart as soon as i've finished the step-by-step stuff. but whenever i try to restart (through the prompt), it shuts off and turns on but the monitor stays black. (external monitor) keyboard and mouse light up and leds are on and hdd is spinning but it stays black. i have to do a hard-shut down to get it back on and i have to re-format the ssd as it deletes the partition. i'm in the process of downloading a fresh windows but help would be excellent on this to clone it over

You have to go into BIOS and go into the CSM and turn off secure boot.  Acronis uses a boot manager that is not Windows based.  So when your computer is trying to restart into the Acronis software, all it can boot into is the Intel Boot Manager.  By turning off the Secure Boot, you can boot into whatever Boot Manager Acronis uses and it should work fine.  When you are done, just re-enable it.
