I'm using an Audioengine D1 external DAC btw. After updating to windows 10 the mute button appeared not to work until recently when I used the line-in jack and discovered that the mute button was only working for that jack. Is there a way to reassign what jack the button works with or some other alternative?

the mute button mutes your default audio device

make sure your dac is selected as default audio device instead of your onboard sound
