Different cooling option for gtx 780

Hello, 

 

I was wondering if it is possible to put a better cooler on a gtx 780, like a non-reference cooler from a different 780. I have two 780s in SLI at the moment, and as they age heat is becoming a big problem. They are both reference PNY cards. I've cleaned them both extensively, and replaced thermal paste for both. Is it rational to look at finding a non-reference cooler to put on them to try and improve Temps until I make my upgrade?

Sure? There are people who watercool their 780's and have the original coolers left to sell.

Arctic Accelero Xtreme 3, Prolimatech MK-26 or Raijintek Morpheus.

The prolimatech cooler is a beast, better temps than with AIOs and at a much lower noise.
