I know Freesync and Gsync monitors are more expensive but are they really worth it? I'm looking for an IPS 2k panel that is 60hz but can over clock. The monitor is the Acer G257HU I picked this put so far because it fits most of my parameters, but I'm not sure if I can over clock it. can anyone help me? Also what is most preferred for gaming Freesync, Gsync, or neither and if so what are some benefits/drawbacks to all of them? Thanks.

Well, with an i7, GTX 1080, Full tower and flashy lights, it can obviously only be for one thing:

Solitaire.

if you have a good nvidia gpu (980 or 980Ti or better), GSYNC.

If you have a okay-ish AMD gpu (r9 290 or r9 380 or better), freesync.

drawbacks? Price. Benefits? Less screentearing.

you decide if it's worth the extra bucks
