So this is the first draft of a build I am looking at putting together. The goal is a black red build that will be used for gaming as well as some programming for the next few years. I am an IT student who is looking at maybe also getting a degree in Programming as it is something that I enjoy quite a bit.

Please let me know what you all think of the build and if you have any ideas or suggestions for better items to be used I will be more than happy to hear them. My ideal budget is around 800ish which I myself went a bit over with the addition of the SSD. Thank you very much. Also just for fun I you have any name ideas don't hesitate to toss them in.

get this. you don't need a Z170 board with a locked CPU

EDIT: Did a little more fine tuning

i would go with i5 6500 over 6600, its only 100 mhz difference but the price gap is too huge to justify it

i would also stick with stock cooler, but i guess the hyper 212 evo is fine too

i suggest getting a non-overclocking board if you're not overclocking, or an overclocking chip if you are overclocking

i would also suggest getting a DDR4 board as well as DDR4, skylake doesnt support DDR3, only DDR3L and DDR4, using DDR3 will damage the IMC of the chip

other than that, nothing more

and i dont recommend 2x r9 390 in CF, a single one is more than enough

never use dual gpu setup unless you already have the best gpu

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

This is my first build so no intentions to OC right now. I did not notice that the board I had chosen was an OC board. Since I am not over clocking I guess I will not need the non-stock cpu cooler so that will also knock the price down.

Any suggestions for a MOBO also is there any decent ones with a good WiFi set up? Where I live currently an Ethernet connection is not feasible.

Thank you for the suggestions I'm going to implement them now.

ATX or mITX motherboard? most wifi boards are mITX

or you can invest in a wifi pcie card

I am going with an ATX build. That way if I can not find a wifi on board it will not be an issue as I can just buy a wifi card and call it good.

yeap, best way is to get a wifi card if you want ATX, ATX motherboard with wifi normally cost a lot lol

Okay. One final question for you. Is there any real difference between the 100+ board I have versus one of same set up for 60 or so? Sorry I am trying to figure it all out and not having much luck telling and just went for one that was black and red as well as for gaming.

probably features

just get a motherboard that supports everything you need and you're good lol

ie. amount of sata ports, usb ports, pcie lanes etc etc

i would personally pay more for aesthetics :P but thats just me

Yeah been looking around and to be blunt I like the looks of the Red/Black over any of the others.

Oh hey it does that too. Lol. I just really liked the black and the nice deep red not to mention the red lines on the board itself. Going to update first post with new build. Thanks for the advice.

Also Senpai will never notice me!!!

lol you're welcome :D

btw there are two seperate strips of LED on the board, one is red only (the audio side of things) and one is RGB (near the ram)

given that one is red and the vrm heatsink is red too, the RGB one will most likely be set to red also :D just saying
