Steam Purchases

I just saw @Dealzon post about the RL offer and I am going to buy it, However I understand that you have to buy something from steam, but its more expensive(I missed the sale) If I buy a £5 gift card at my supermarket then redeem it on steam will it unlock all the steam features or do I have to buy it directly from steam?

Should you want to participate in the Steam Community Market, you will have to make a purchase once with the funds for the 30 days to start though. The Wallet Code redemption itself doesn't count as a purchase for the Steam Community Market; while it does unlimit you.

Trading will work even if you don't; but if you wants to buy or sell anything on the Market, you will have to make a purchase once with the funds.
