New SSD?

Hey, I have a Crucial M4 which I am often filling so I am looking into a new SSD and I have two options:

Get another one, RAID 0 or just run two SSDs side by side
Sell M4 and buy a larger new SSD

Will new SSD give an actual performance increase in day to day tasks over the M4? Say an EVO 850

It depends on the SSD you plan to get if you buy a new one

Nvm. I didn't see the 850 EVO. I would definitely get a larger 850. It is much faster and a better value than getting a second M4. And on Newegg, the M4 is really expensive.

Sell and get a larger SSD. Thats what I would do. Whatever others say, im not going to trust an old SSD. The performance increase depends on the model , and if you go for the 850, yes.

If you have space for more SSDs in your case I would suggest to simply get a larger new SSD and use it independently from the boot one for everything demanding. this way you would avoid any potential headaches connected to OS re-installation or cloning. Later on, when this one gets old you can swap this one too. I would try to stay away from having a RAID0 boot storage configuration since it doesn't provide any redundancy nor is safe for your data.

Well after looking at second hand prices of the M4, selling it doesnt seem even worth the effort of listing it

I guess my main question is will an SSD like the 850 EVO or SanDisk Extreme Pro actually give me a performance increase? Going from an HDD to pretty much and SSD is going to be a big difference, but from an old SSD to a newer one? Will there be much of a difference

I would try to refrain from the speed as being the only vital spec when it comes to a SSD choice. I would try checking out some other vital things such as NAND cell types, differences in controllers, software that the drive comes with, write limitations, warranty as well as objective opinions from experienced people (who have owned at least one of the proposed SSDs).

Unfortunately, as a Western Digital representative I can't really connect on any specific non-WD products.
