Hi! :)

I am currently writing on this White Macbook Unibody mid/late 2010 model 2,4ghz A1342.

From factory it has 2x1GB ram.

I am sitting here with my newly purchased mushkin ram 2x8GB sticks.

My problem is this: The macbook will not boot when i have BOTH the new sticks (2x8GB) inserted.

It will boot when i have one old and one new stick (1x8GB + 1x1GB), and the mac reads it as 9GB ram of total, which I also experience from the speed.

I have tested multiple combinations, and it always comes to that both the two new ram sticks --> Macbook won't boot. I don't get what is wrong, since many others have made it with this exactly model and this exactly ram upgrade memory kit.

Old memory sticks: 1066mhz Cl7 PC3-8500 SODIMM

New memory sticks: 1066mhz Cl7 PC3-8500 SODIMM  (Muskin model nr 997019)

The computer is tested with 2x8GB sticks by many, many others, who has confirmed that it works, and that the Macbook reads 2x8GB when booted.

When booting with both 8GB sticks, I this single beep with 5 seconds pause, which indicates "no ram inserted" according to apple.

At this very moment I am running on 1GB + 8 GB sticks.. Works great, but it's not optimal at all..!

Your OS X  El Capitan 10.11.4 is Good. Just your EFI you need to check if it update and you should be good with your Ram.

My EFI Boot Room Version is this one: MB71.0039.B0E

Which I think is up to date according to this site:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201518

Which puts me back to scratch..

Is it possible the compatibility varies on the producer/manufacturer ?

What memory models did you get because the maximum ram very's on models on that model mac ?

Mushkin 2x8GB DDR3 PC3-8500 1066Mhz SODIMM Cl7

Max ram supported for my model (Macbook 2,4 Ghz Model 7,1 A1342 Mid 2010) is supposed to be 16GB.

Reset the PRAM that should fix it.

Turn off the machine completely.   Plug it into power.

Hit the Power button then Hold Command + Option + P + R until you hear a second startup chime.

Tell my tale to those who ask. Tell it truly; the ill deeds along with the good, and let me be judged accordingly.
