Mirrorless/DSLR Camera Monitor/Screen Help

This little monitor is fairly popular for smaller Mirrorless/DSLR cameras. But it's just a bit over $100.

I spotted this little thing here for about $50:

(I don't care about the touch screen)

It has and HDMI in and is powered by USB. Would something like it, or an equivalent work with a camera that has an HDMI out?

Any help/tips/advice would be highly appreciated.

Thanks!
