A fully functioning website like that would  take months for a single person to complete and would cost upwards of a grand

It's not that easy. If you really want to go ahead and have one, you'll need to spend well over a grand on paying a team of programmers for months to build the site, and it's highly unlikely you'll get a return on your investment, given the saturation, as mentioned by @FirstArmada. I would just give up, if the goal is to get money for it, that's probably not going to happen.

Alternatively you could invest heavily into a existing site and acquire a stake
