So it is safe to install? Right?

Yes, as long as you dont install anything that exceeds 500W...

I have a corsair cx500 sitting in my closet waiting for my new graphics card. The current gpu is integrated and does not consume much power.

If I install the cx500 (500watt) right now will it be an overload?

Can you even overload or will it use just what it needs.

Current CPU: AMD A10 7800- 3.8ghz (boosted)

GPU I am going to buy: XFX R9 380 4gb

If you really wanted to you could get an EVGA Supernova 1600 and put it with a Pentium G3250 and 4GB of RAM and no dedicated GPU. Power supplies don't matter so long as there's not too little power in them for the system. It's perfectly safe to install it.
