Need help (fps/htz/resolution)

Hey there! I'm looking at buying a 1440p 144hz monitor. I've been doing some research online and I've come across an abundance of opinions when it comes to gaming on a monitor like this. My question is with a 144hz 1440p display what's the desired fps? I've seen people say 60, I've seen people say "YOU NEED 144fps" for 144hz monitors. I've also watched an abundance of benchmarks on youtube, by big name youtubers, who have had results from 40fps-160fps on 1440p, on various different games, say that the games are running exceptionally well.

I guess my overall question is if I have a 144hz 1440p monitor what's a desired fps to achieve?

thank you for the help in advance!

For you to get the full experience of the refresh rate, you'll want 144fps. Running games at a lower fps is fine, it just doesn't look as fast and fluent compared to running at a higher one.

In other words, 144fps is desireable. Lower is fine.

I say jiggly-bytes when I see "GB".

It goes down better than you would expect.

144hz 1440p requires a beefy computer to actually drive 144fps.

I'd recommend 1440p 60hz display (maybe with freesync or gsync if you want to spend a bit extra)

i7 4790k | MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition | G.Skill Ripjaws X 16 GB | Samsung 850 EVO 500 GB | 2x Seagate Barracuda 2TB | MSI GTX 970 Twin Frozr V | Fractal Design R4 | EVGA 650W

A gaming PC for your budget: $800 - $1000 - $1500 - $1800 - $2600 - $9001

Yeah of course but what I'm asking is 144fps required in order to play games on a monitor with those specifications that I listed?
