Writing a speech on VR. I am 16 and second to bottom set English so please don't judge me, if there is anything I should add or grammatical errors you can point out can you please comment :) Thanks. (No Idea what else to write), it needs to be quite persuasive.

Opening Question

Has there ever been a point in your life where you see something on the TV, maybe something beautiful or one of a kind and just wish you could see something that unique?

What is VR?

VR (Virtual Reality) is a computer showing 2 images into either eye simulating a 3D effect, so theoretically you can physically be in one place and also be in another! People are already utilizing this power in video games but I believe it can be used for so much more!

Here is an example of it being used in a game, the sensors will detect his position and rein-act it in the game but then the headset will enable him to look around in an immersive feeling being able to see all that surrounds him, I thought this immersive view could be used in all sorts of things from History Education…… to Military use.

Military

VR could be used to limit the casualties in war by using VR and sensors to control robots that take their place instead of mortal humans. Very similar to what is shown here. You’d be losing hundreds of metal parts instead of hundreds of people, people who have families and friends.

Virtual Reality has actually been studied and recommended by scientists for patients with PTSD, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. The way that it works it that the location that the VR is set to is a place that would set off their PTSD while being guided by a professional to help you get past that fear.

History

As graphics are getting better and better are looking more and more like reality therefore you could simulate what a time used to look like in the past a virtually renovated area and view it through VR. This could be used massively in the education industry showing what the world looked like 500 years ago for example.

Conclusion

People are only just figuring out that VR can do some great things but we need to realise that it has the possibility to do extraordinary things,

Thank you.

It could use some questions and/or ideas to make the audience think about it for a while.

I'd change that line to

"VR (Virtual Reality) is a computer technology....."

since that makes more sense.

Also, I'd make a bigger deal about the Field of View. 2 images doesn't really explain it in enough detail, people should know its being warped and it wraps around 100-110 degrees of your view! And I guess headtracking, being not only surrounded by the world but able to look up and down, lean in and out, hell you can now walk around it in small spaces!

Depending how much detail, you might want to talk about motion controls?

Or you could show off some videos if possible? Mixed Reality ones are best for showing VR off.

CPU: 6700k GPU: Zotac RTX 2070 S RAM: 16GB 3200MHz  SSD: 2x1TB M.2  Case: DAN Case A4

Might wanna go over the history of VR.  It's really not a new thing, and it has changed over time.  The Virtual Boy was Nintendo's attempt at bringing it to the home market.  But, there have always been others trying to cash in on it for quite some time too.

http://www.cnet.com/videos/the-history-of-vr/  Is a brief example of this.

As for your grammar, look up the rules for interrupters, transitions, run-on sentences, and fragments.  Your sentences have many issues with these rules.

Thanks! Thanks!

The audience isn't a very tech friendly audience, so I have to keep it quite simple. Got any in mind?

How about "Think about this: have you ever been enjoying a video game or movie so much that you just wanted to be there, in the thick of the action and experiencing it first-hand? Well, VR makes that possible."

Project White Lightning (My ITX Gaming PC): Core i5-4690K | CRYORIG H5 Ultimate | ASUS Maximus VII Impact | HyperX Savage 2x8GB DDR3 | Samsung 850 EVO 250GB | WD Black 1TB | Sapphire RX 480 8GB NITRO+ OC | Phanteks Enthoo EVOLV ITX | Corsair AX760 | LG 29UM67 | CM Storm Quickfire Ultimate | Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum | HyperX Cloud II | Logitech Z333

Benchmark Results: 3DMark Firestrike: 10,528 | SteamVR VR Ready (avg. quality 7.1) | VRMark 7,004 (VR Ready)

Other systems I've built:

Core i3-6100 | CM Hyper 212 EVO | MSI H110M ECO | Corsair Vengeance LPX 1x8GB DDR4  | ADATA SP550 120GB | Seagate 500GB | EVGA ACX 2.0 GTX 1050 Ti | Fractal Design Core 1500 | Corsair CX450M

Core i5-4590 | Intel Stock Cooler | Gigabyte GA-H97N-WIFI | HyperX Savage 2x4GB DDR3 | Seagate 500GB | Intel Integrated HD Graphics | Fractal Design Arc Mini R2 | be quiet! Pure Power L8 350W

I am not a professional. I am not an expert. I am just a smartass. Don't try and blame me if you break something when acting upon my advice.
