MakerBot Replicator USB not working

My school has a Makerbot Replicator 5th gen at Vex Worlds. I can't connect the computer directly to the printer as the port on the printer is broken. The USB stick we're using with the printer only shows a folder called "$RECYCLE.BIN" when plugged into the printer. On my PC it shows that there are .stl and .thing files on the drive. Does anyone know why they don't show up?
