Computer Engineering is an engineering science degree. Meaning it's focused on the science of how computer systems work rather than how to use them. Classes include a lot of digital circuit design, systems & signal processing, microelectronics, software systems, and a lot of high level math. From what I know (my background is in Aero & Mechanical), it's similar to electrical engineering in terms of the industry, but more of a focus on smaller electronics for computer systems rather than larger stuff. I would expect both fields intersect a lot just as Aero & Mechanical Engineering does.

From the couple minutes of research I did on IT Management and assuming we are not talking about "IT Help Desk Manager", it seems as if that may be more geared toward the Computer Science side of the house. Computer Engineering is more focused on the hardware side of things whereas Comp Sci is the software side. In either field there is going to be opportunities for management 5-10 years down the road; both with similar salaries. More of a personal preference of what type of stuff you want to work on (i.e. software or hardware). In either case, a masters degree in business administration coupled with a technical undergraduate degree (such as Comp Sci or CompE) is a good route to go if your interested in management in a technical industry.
