Having a weird issue with my computer in the past couple weeks, anyone have any ideas?

Normally, I will put it in to sleep mode overnight. Recently, when I try to wake it from sleep mode, all I get is a multiple BIOS beeps continuing for about 30s, then 3 lower pitch beeps. I'll force shut down the computer, turn off and unplug the PSU, hold the power button to drain capacitors, plug it back in, then turn it back on. As soon as I hit the power button, it acts as if it was in sleep mode, and boots back up with all the programs I had open still up.

I may not know much, but Im at least 80% sure that isn't entirely normal.

MOBO: Gigabyte Z77-DS3H

CPU: i7 3770k

GPU: MSI GTX 970

Most recent changes to the system: In December I upgraded to Windows 10, and about a month ago I upgraded from my PSU and GPU. I doubt these changes are what caused the issue, but if Ive learned anything about computers, its that anything is possible.

Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe put your computer into sleep mode?
and the reason why your computer  "acts as if it was in sleep mode" is because you have hybrid sleep enabled which essentially hibernates and sleeps at the same time.

I would just use hibernate mode instead of sleep mode.

hello!

-Overkill Dell XPS

Fully maxed out early 2017 Dell XPS 15, GTX 1050 4GB, 7700HQ, 1TB nvme SSD, 32GB RAM, 4k display. 97Whr battery :x
Dell was having a $600 off sale for the fully specced out model, so I decided to get it :P

-Crapbook

Fully specced out early 2013 Macbook "pro" with gt 650m and constant 105c temperature on the CPU (GPU is 80-90C) when doing anything intensive...

A 2013 laptop with a regular sized battery still has better battery life than a 2017 laptop with a massive battery! I think this is a testament to apple's ability at making laptops, or maybe how little CPU technology has improved even 4+ years later (at least, until the recent introduction of 15W 4 core CPUs). Anyway, I'm never going to get a 35W CPU laptop again unless battery technology becomes ~5x better than as it is in 2018.

Apple knows how to make proper consumer-grade laptops (they don't know how to make pro laptops though). I guess this mostly software power efficiency related, but getting a mac makes perfect sense if you want a portable/powerful laptop that can do anything you want it to with great battery life.

Well, I was asking for the exact model, they've good and bad models

But I'd be better if you'd count those "multiple beeps"

Also are you sure it's sleep mode and not hibernation? Because if you're actually unplugging the PSU, you're wiping anything stored in RAM

It's fine

Sorry, all I can find is Smart 650w

Im sure its not hibernation-I disabled hibernation mode and removed the hiberfile some time ago because I was running out of space.

I didn't actually count that high, I just hit a counter every time it beeped. Beeps are all same duration, pitch, etc for 30s, then as I said, 3 lower pitch beeps for about 1s each. Checked the cables, everything seems fine. System responds normally if I shut down or restart, it's just coming out of sleep mode that's the issue. I doubt it's W10 that's the issue, as I've had that for some time now, and the problem hasn't occurred until recently, but I could be wrong

I swapped out the psu about a month ago, 2 weeks before the problem started. I can put my old one in with igpu later and try it, but then I wouldnt be know if it was a gpu or psu issue.

On another note, someone seems to have had a somewhat similar problem, and determined it to be ram:

I somewhat doubt my ram is an issue, but I suppose it is possible
