I know that title in this community is almost taboo (seeing as this a mostly windows and gamers community) but hear me out for a quick second. For those of us who are into video editing (whether that be professionally or as a hobby) there's been somewhat of a fuss lately about Final Cut Pro X. This came after tech youtuber Jonathan Morrison (https://www.youtube.com/user/tldtoday) made a response video to Linus' "can you edit 4k on a laptop/ultrabook" video, in which he perfectly edited a 4k video on that tablet without a touchscreen that is the 2015 MacBook, using FCPX, and then challenged Linus to see what was more effective on video editing. As far as I know Linus never responded to it. What I want to know is: does one have to fork over all that money to our Apple overlords if one wants the efficiency of FCPX or can the same be achieved with a custom built Hackintosh? This would also be a good opportunity to re-visit the subject of Hackintoshing (since the landscaped has changed somewhat since Linus' hackintosh video) and also to re-visit Mac OSX itself since the new update added a lot of features that "fixed" some of what Linus complained about.

Just a quick side note: before some of you comment "don't buy apple" and etcera I just want to say that these questions are of pure interest, I have no intentions of getting a new computer, I'm more than happy with what I have.
