How about the refresh rate of your LG?

I keep it at the stock 60hz because I don't feel the need for a high refresh rate on it. I use my 144hz secondary monitor when playing games I can get above 60. For me, the LG is more of a productivity monitor. I've never tried to overclock it, but I'm sure lots of others have, you'll find their results if you search around.

Hi!

So I decided that its high time for me to buy an ultra wide monitor and I have set my eyes on these displays :

LG 25um57-p (about 200usd here in Japan)

LG 29um57-p (~300usd)

LG 25um58-p (~250usd)

LG 29um58-p (~350usd)

All are 2560x1080 screens and I will be mostly gaming on my display. Question is, what model should I buy? I have found some reviews of the two, model tiers, but I can't find the differences.

Also, I would like to know if 25 inches is enough, or should I go for the 29 inches? I will be coming from a 23inch display, 16:9.

What's important to me is that the display would be overclockable to about 75Hz (I've read that it's doable on all these displays but I also read some posts that say otherwise, and its all too confusing.

If it helps somewhat, my graphics card is a gtx 980Ti, so I should have no problem driving this thing.

Thanks!

In terms of vertical size, my 24in 16x9 ASUS VG248QE is quite a bit taller than my 25in 21x9 LG 24um57-p, like 3 or 4cm (about an inch) (from looking at it now, I didn't measure it.)

I think that the 25in is good for gaming, and I think that if you use a 23in display and are happy with it, you will be happy with the 25in ultrawide. If you want something bigger though, you'd be happier with a 29in display.

Take a look at the 29UM67-P. Can go up to 75Hz by default if set to FreeSync mode in the OSD.

25 inch is a bit small, it has height of 20 inch 16:9 screen. Go for at least 29 inch and look for 29UC88, the newest model.

As for refresh rate, as far as I know 75 Hz is only reachable with FreeSync enabled. At least my 34UC98 acts like that.

Spoiler

CPU: i7-6900K 4.5 GHz | Motherboard: X99 Sabertooth | GPU: RTX 2080 Ti SLi | RAM: 32GB DDR4-3400 CL13 | SSD: SX8200 PRO 512GB | PSU: Corsair AX1600i | Case: InWin 805C | Monitor: LG 38UC99-W 85Hz | Keyboard: Wooting One Analog | Keypad: Azeron Compact Analog | Mouse: Swiftpoint Z | Audio: Klipsch Reference 5.1

Thank you, but here in japan, those are a tad expensive. What I listed above is what I can afford.

Just to update on this and finally cflose the thread, i got myself the 25um57, the cheapest of the bunch. I've read that it'd usually go up to 75Hz, and since I sit really close to my monitor, the small size isnt really a thing for me. Antway, thank yoiu so much for answering my questions!
