ISP spam problem

Hi,

 

I'm active on my ISP's forum (Telenet) and A LOT of customers have the problem that their email address is used to send spam. I know that it isn't uncommon but it's really weird.

 

My ISP is Telenet and the domain is @telenet.be

 

So this is happening:

A lot of people see a lot of delivery failure report emails in their inbox from not delivered spam.

The spam is send to multiple @telenet.be email addresses and also to many contacts in the users' contact list.

 

This raises some suspicion that the server is hacked.

 

The answer from my ISP is always that they can't do anything about it but it's happening to too many people...

 

So I'm trying to figure out where the problem lies...

Maybe the server is hacked or whatever

Or the spam filter is just terrible...

 

Can you guys help me figure this out?
