Will an i5-6400 work well with a mobo Asus H170M-E D3 (which has ddr3 ram compatibility). Cuz seeing the ark site for core i5-6400, it only says DDR3L. So I want to get some infos from anyone who knows if it will work, thanks!

EDIT: (forgot to add) I wanted keep my Hyper X 8gb ddr3

DDR3 and DDR3L runs slightly differently

you'll want to use DDR3L with your skylake, just because DDR3 can damage it in the long run

your motherboard should be able to support DDR3L, they share the same socket (correct me if im wrong)

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

Yes it will work. The mobo explicitly states DDR3L memory compatibility.

Just get DDR3L sticks that are no faster than 1866Mhz as it appears to be the mobo's limit.

DDR3L operates at 1.25-1.35V. That's the main difference from ordinary 1.5+V DDR3 modules.

Understood! Thanks very much :)
