Antec 900 Cooler support?! Hulp!

So i am helping a friend buying a new cpu cooler, and he is currently using an Antec 900. The one that is gray inside and with no cpu cutout.

 

First off i tried to find something like an H80i. Then i read about needing a "Clip mod" or something, which is apparently not super hard to do but modding is not actual in my friends case.

Next a NH-D14 would fit, (i think) And until i stumbled apon someone saying they did a cpu cutout mod for the H80i which leads me insecure about the backplate thickness etc of the coolers.

 

 

So now i don't feel 100% safe recommending any cooler for that chassi.

Apparently case has clearance of 160mm. I wouldn't put D14 in there because its bit too close for comfort. But smaller air coolers like 212 and H7 are just fine for most situations.

 

As for AIO, problem isn't with backplates but wideness of heatsink. I also saw post talking about it. It requires something to be cut off from sidepanel.
