Looking for methods, because as I sit here with my bent paperclip I'm wishing there were a faster, easier way.

I wasn't using the paperclip as a hook. I had it curved around so I could 'scoop' the rings out... however... after you suggested hooks, I figured what the hell, I don't really care if I damage the rings with the sharp end of the hook so I bent an end and just started hooking them out.
