Heya all,

This only hapens very occasionally but could my games crashing on load up be due to a small power supply?

I have a GTX 970 and 4690k and 16gb of ram and 1 hdd and 2 ssds. I read and the minimum PSU requirement for a 970 was 500w. I have a 550w PSU.

Could this be the reason?

Cheers.

Not at all.

The Strix is factory overclocked @ 106% so does that mean its causing it to throttle or bottleneck or whatever and crash?

Depends... I ran my 550watt at 520 load, if the overclock is causing it to go over the maximum on the PSU then I'd say that was the problem. I've also seen hacks cause a game to crash on startup.

Then I have no idea... drivers all installed? CPU clocked correctly? It wouldn't even have to be overclocked but I've had some of my stock clocks be a little off...

Try running prime95 see if it crashes... then run 3dMark... if they both crash I'd say you're drawing too much power...
