Lately I have been thinking of watercooling my 970 g1, I don't really need it since I can't break the 70 degrees barrier, and it would be pretty expensive. Yesterday I saw an offer on Amazon, the H110i Gt for 80 euros, and I pulled the trigger. The cooler was sold as refurbished, but it had the pre-applied tim, so it is brand new.

Let's get into the modding:

First, I drilled two holes in the AMD mounting bracket:

Then, with two bolts and two nuts I proceeded to attach the block to the die:

And finally, I mounted it:

The results are, well, temperatures don't go above 56 ºC while running heaven, although VRMs jumped to 85 degrees, so a heatsink is recommended. But in the noise department, meh, the loudest thing in my computer was the hdd, now it is a combination between the pump, the hdd and the rattling SP140Ls. Keep in mind that my case is open and my pc is at 70 cm from my face.

To sum up, this mod can work if you don't really mind acoustics, it is fairly easy and somewhat cheaper compared to a custom loop. Although you will need a wide case for the tubing, now my pc looks like an octopus

I think it's NZXT that sells a bracket to mount AIO cpu coolers to graphics cards with a built in fan to cool the VRMs.

Yes, but the Vrm on the 970 is on the left side, and the fan on the G10 is on the right side
