How to crossfire

Hi, I have PC with FX-8350 processor and R9 280x GPU and I wanted to know if I can add R9 270 GPU to my system with crossfire. Is it possible? I have AsRock 990FX Extreme3 motherboard (ATX) and 600w PSU

would be pointless even if it works ud just be nerfing ur 280x to a 270.

 

that said I believe u need 2 cards of the same ie a 280x and another 280/280x or even a 380

Crossfire is very loose about using different cards, no matter clocks, vram etch but note that 280x will be dragged down to 270's level in terms of vram. So you would only have 2 GB overall vram in crossfire. It does not add up, you can think of crossfire or SLI as raid 0 for graphics cards.

 

I suggest you stick with one 280x and save up some money for future upgrades

No, crossfire still requires using the same base GPU. 270(x)->Pitcairn, 280(x)->Tahiti, 380(x)->Tonga

 

Sorry OP, you cannot crossfire those cards.
